HARTFORD, Conn. - Junior
Marisss Lopez-Ona (Philadelphia, Pa.) and first-year
Niamh Kastner (Williamsburg, Va.) each won one race and finished second in another, as the Trinity College Bantams hosted a women's swimming and diving tri-meet with the Colby College Mules and the Hamilton College Continentals at Trinity Natatorium this afternoon. Trinity lost to Colby, 183-114, and to Hamilton, 158-134, while Hamilton defeated Colby 160.5-131.5. The Bantams will compete in the Connecticut Cup next on December 2 and 3 at Wesleyan University.
Lopez-Ona won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.97 and placed second in the 50-yard breaststroke. Kastner won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.29 and was second in the 50-yard fly at 27.34. The pair also teamed with sophomore
Isabelle Tagliaferro (Bedford, N.H.) and first-year
Rachel Kim (Leonia, N.J.) to post a second-place time of 1:50.88 in the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet. Trinity senior
Rachel Papalski (Flemington, N.J.) added a winning time of 2:01.22 in the 200-yard free, while senior
Avery Rowland (Wilton, Conn.) and sophomore
Julianna Rieker(Winston-Salem, N.C.) were second and third, respectively, in the 1,000-yard free. In diving, rookie
Cassandra Cronin (North Easton, Mass.) came in third place off both boards.
