Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Beaten By Curry In NSB Tournament

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Trinity College Bantams were edged by the Curry College Colonels, 4-3, in the opening round of the Northfield Savings Bank Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at Norwich University's Kreitzberg Arena this evening.  The Bantams fall to 4-5 and will play SUNY Canton at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Norwich in the consolation game.  The host Cadets beat Canton State for the right to play Curry in the finals tomorrow at 5 p.m.  Trinity is now 4-5 and Curry improves to 8-2.

Trinity opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game on a goal by sophomore Casey Rhodes (Huntington Beach, Calif.), but Curry freshman Gage Dill tied the score with 2:46 to play in the first to even the score at 1-1. Senior captain Riley Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) scored an unassisted goal 5:30 into the second period but Dill scored another equalizer later in the same period.  The Bantams took the lead with just under eight minutes to play in the third when sophomore Nicholas Siffringer (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) fed classmate Richard Boysen (Belle Vernon, Pa.) at the 12:01 mark of the third frame.  Colonel senior Nick Favaro tied it for the final time with 4:36 remaining off a Trinity skate and Curry took the lead for good when freshman Kevin Pitts scored on a rebound.  Rookie Devon Bobak () had 23 saves for the Bantams and Reid Cooper turned aside 27 shots for the Colonels.
