NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Senior captain
Riley Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 4-3 win over the SUNY Canton Kangaroos in the consolation game of the Northfield Savings Bank Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at Norwich University's Kreitzberg Arena this afternoon. The Bantams, who had lost, 4-3, to the Curry College Colonels in the first round yesterday are now 5-5 heading into a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) game on Friday, January 6 at 7 p.m. on the road against Williams College. The Kangaroos are now 4-9. Prattson represented Trinity on the all-tournament squad.
The game was tied, 1-1, after one period thanks to goals by Trinity sophomore defenseman
Theodore Griffin (Marshfield, Mass.) and Canton State's Brendan Morrow. Senior
Paul Selleck (Laguna Hills, Calif.) scored the go-ahead goal 4:07 into the second period short-handed from junior
Jacob Smith (Anchorage, Alaska), and Prattson scored his goal with nine seconds left before the final break. Trinity sophomore blue liner
Eamon Doheny (Lunenberg, Mass.) made it, 4-1, with a goal 2:22 into the third period and the Bantams held on late despite two Kangaroo tallies later in the third. Junior goaltender
J.P. Mella (Stamford, Conn.) made the last of his 15 saves with five seconds left to preserve the victory. Nate Hopkins had 30 stops for Canton State.
