Trinity Men's Ice Hockey Batters Bowdoin

HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior Lucas Michaud (South Portland, Maine) and junior Riley Prattson (Tolland, Conn.) scored two goals apiece to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 5-3 victory over the visiting Bowdoin College Polar Bears in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center.  Trinity improves to 11-7-1 overall and 9-5-1 in the NESCAC heading into tomorrow's home matchup with No. 14-ranked and first-place Colby at 4 p.m.  Bowdoin drops to 5-9-4 overall and 1-6-1 in the league with its fourth setback in a row.  Bowdoin plays at Wesleyan tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Trinity jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one period thanks to goals by Michaud, sophomore defenseman John Campomenosi (Wayne, N.J.) and Prattson.  Michaud and Prattson scored on Bantam power plays, while Campomenosi scored on a quick shot from the right wing after rookie forward Richard Boysen (Belle Vernon, Pa.) had gotten him the puck on a faceoff.  Bowdoin got on the board with 2:20 left in the second stanza on a power-play goal by Chris Brown, but Prattson answered 38 seconds later, converting on assists by both Cole Poliziani (Burlington, Ontario) and Ned Blanchard (West Hartford, Conn.) for the second time, with what proved to be the game-winner..

In the third period, the Polar Bears pulled to within one when Jesse Lycan assisted Will Forrest for goal and then that pair each provided an assist for Bowdoin's third marker by Kyle Jarosz.  Michaud added an insurance goal with 5:12 left and Trinity sophomore netminder J.P. Mella (Stamford, Conn.) made 13 of his 28 stops in the final period.  Trinity sophomore forward Jax Murray (Minneapolis, Minn.) joined Poliziani and Blanchard with two assists.  Polar Bear goalie Alex Kozic made 30 saves, as the Bantams slightly outshot the visitors, 35-31.
