BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Trinity College women's ice hockey team lost to Bowdoin College with a final score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in New England Small College Athletic conference (NESCAC) play. The Bantams fall to 8-11-1 with a 4-9 record in the conference while Bowdoin improves to 10-8-1 (6-7-1 NESCAC). Next on the slate for Trinity is a 7 p.m. matchup against Connecticut College on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Polar Bears travel to Middlebury for a 7 p.m. faceoff on Friday.
Angelina Joyce fired from the right circle to net the lone goal of the day in the first period at the 9:37 mark with the help of Elsa Cassidy who was credited with the assist. Both teams were shutout on the power play with the Polar Bears going 0-for-3 and Trinity going 0-for-5. Sophomore goaltender Hannah Leclair (Kensington, Prince Edward Island) made 24 stops in net for the Bantams including turning away a Bowdoin breakaway opportunity and multiple point-blank attempts while Dani Marquez collected 13 saves to pick up her third shutout of the season. Junior Claudia Capone (Foxboro, Mass.) paced the visitors with five shots in the contest.
