Trinity Men's Basketball Runs Away From Elms With Strong Second Half

Box Score HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore forward Ben Callahan-Gold (New York, N.Y.) had 22 points, sinking five of seven shot from long range, and seven rebounds to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to an 89-65 victory over the Elms College Blazers in men's basketball action this evening.  Trinity closes the 2021-22 regular season with four wins in a row to finish at 14-8, and will open post-season play against Bates College in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament at home on Friday at 7 p.m.  Elms drops to 2-19 with its fifth consecutive setback.

Trinity scored 55 points in the second half to break open the game after the teams played even in the first stanza.  Callahan-Gold and Elms' Tahquell Cadle scored 11 points each in the first 20 minutes, as the Bantams and the Blazers were tied 34-34 at the break.  Trinity led, 49-48 with 13:28 on the clock when Callahan-Gold drilled back-to-back treys to ignite a massive Bantam run.  The visitors outscored Elms, 38-15, over 12 minutes.  Callahan-Gold and senior tri-captain guard Tyler Mola (Leominster, Mass.) had nine points each and junior guard Joe Hoch (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) added eight points during the run.  Hoch, Mola, and senior tri-captain guard Darius Lue (Tampa, Fla.) had 11 points apiece for 33 of Trinity's 48 bench points in the contest.  Cadle scored 15 points 11 rebounds for Elms.
