Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Blanked At Wesleyan In Regular Season Finale

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams lost their regular-season finale, 2-0, against the Wesleyan University Cardinals this afternoon, despite rec35 saves by sophomore goaltender Hannah Leclair (Kensington, Prince Edward Island).  Trinity ends the slate at 9-12-2 overall and 5-10-1.  Wesleyan finishes up at 8-12-1 overall and 4-11-1.  The teams tied, 1-1, last night at Trinity and both will compete in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Tournament beginning next weekend.

The first period was a defensive battle as both teams felt each other out for the first 20 minutes. The teams only combined for 12 shots with very few real scoring opportunities in the opening 20 minutes.  Wesleyan turned up the offensive pressure in the second period, unloading 15 shots on goal compared to Trinity's three.  Audrey McMahon scored the first goal of the game on a rebound in the second period for the Cardinals.  Late in the third stanza, Trinity began creating some scoring chances for themselves, ripping 11 of their 21 total shots on goal in the final period.  Wesleyan scored an empty netter late.  Rei Halloran had 21 saves for the Cardinals.  Sophomore Jenny Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.) paced Trinity offensively with four shots.
