Taylor Mikolajczak (John's Creek, Ga.) combined to go 8-for-8 at the plate to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 12-1 victory over the Lawrence University Vikings in softball action this afternoon. Trinity, which also lost, 4-2, against University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh today The Spring Games softball extravaganza in Central Florida, is now 4-2, and will Buffalo State and Manchester on Thursday after a day off tomorrow.
Trinity broke a scoreless tie with an eight-run third frame and senior RHP
Jordan Stephan (South Orange, N.J.) tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts over five innings to improve to 2-1. Mikolajczak led off the top of the third inning and scored the game's first run on a Tito triple. Bantam rookie
Alexandra Golz (Aberdeen, S.D.) and Mikolajczak each added two-run doubles later in the inning, and Mikolajczak and Tito both tripled in runs during Trinity's four-run fifth inning that ended the game on the five-run mercy rule. Golz and Trinity first-year
Erin Steed (Orland Park, Ill.) both finished 2-for-3 for the Bantam offense.
Wisc.-Oshkosh and Trinity were tied at 1-1 after five innings, but the Titans scored three runs in the sixth frame. Sophomore
Kennedy Rogers (Pomona, Calif.) singled home Tito to tie it at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth after the Titans had scored the game's first run in the top of the fourth. Junior
Scarlett Gillette (Andover, Mass.) led off with a double and scored in the seventh, and the Bantams put two more runners on base later in the inning, but Titan pitcher Maddie Fink ended her complete-game effort with her seventh strikeout. Junior
