CLERMONT, Fla. - First-year SS Taylor Mikolajczak (John's Creek, Ga.) went 2-for-3 with three runs, two steals, a triple, and an RBI to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-2 victory over the Buffalo State College Bengals in The Spring Games softball action this afternoon.  Trinity, which had its second game today against Manchester canceled due to rain, improves to 5-3 heading into its final day in Florida with games against Grinnell and Gustavus Adolphus scheduled for tomorrow.  Buffalo State drops to 3-7.

Trinity went ahead, 4-0, early with two runs in each of the first two innings.  Mikolajczak scored the game's first run on a double steal and senior co-captain Alex Chambers (East Lyme, Conn.) drove in the second on a single to drive home junior 3B Michaela Russell (Boston, Mass.).  In the second frame, Mikolajczak tripled home another run and scored on two-out double by Russell that also chased Buffalo State starter Cari Bogue from the game. 

The Bengals cut Trinity's lead in half with runs in the third and fourth innings, but the Bantams got both runs back in the fifth on two walks, three wild pitches, and an RBI groundout by sophomore Gianna Tito (East Hanover, N.J.).  Trinity added an unearned run in the sixth before the game was called early due to rain.  Russell joined Mikolajczak as a multiple hitter for Trinity, going 2-for-4 with two run, a double, a stolen base, and an RBI.  Trinity sophomore righty Tiffany Stowers (Burke, Va.) and junior lefty Maddie Recker (Sayville, N.Y.) combined to allow seven hits and strike out a pair of Bengals.
