CLERMONT, Fla. – The Trinity College softball team dropped both of its games against Grinnell College, 5-4 and Gustavus Adolphus College, 3-2 on Friday during its final day of a week long outing in Florida. The Bantams now sit at 5-4 and return to Hartford for their double-header home-opener this Wednesday at 3 and 5:30 p.m. against Eastern Connecticut State University.
Trinity scored the first two runs of the day in game one against Grinnell, tallying one in the first and another in the third to take a 2-0 lead but five runs over the next two innings for the Pioneers served to be the difference maker as the Bantams were only able to get back two in the top of the seventh. In game two against Gustavus Adolphus, Trinity again lead 2-0 but a three-run fifth inning for the declared visiting team was enough to deal the Bantams their second setback of the day. Junior
Michaela Russell (Boston, Mass.) batted .500 over the two games with four RBIs while first-year
Taylor Mikolajczak (John's Creek, Ga.) went 2-for-2 against Grinnell College.
