HARTFORD, Conn. — Jackie Frank (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Katrina Winfield (Wilmington, Del.) netted all four goals in the Trinity College field hockey 4-1 triumph against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday. The Bantams improved to 3-0 overall, while the Engineers dropped to 2-4.
With less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter, Frank notched her first goal of the night off the pass from Winfield following a penalty corner.
The junior also connected with the net with back-to-back goals in the second and third quarters. Winfield drilled one in off the assist from Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) at 21:06 in the second and 33:38 in the third thanks to Izzy Deveney (Westport, Conn.).
Deveney tallied another assist off Frank's second goal of the game 43 seconds into the final quarter off another penalty corner for the home team.
Flaherty had a team-leading 10 shots with seven on goal, while Frank had six and five at the target.
The Engineers brought pressure late in the third quarter with their first shot of the game by Arie Lang but couldn't get more off before the time expired.
The pressure stagnated for the visitors until Lauren Coutu snapped the shutout with less than a minute and a half remaining in the game and the first goal against Olivia McMichael (Glenside, Pa.) this season.
WPI took four shots and a trio on goal while the Bantams attempted 28 with 23 on goal.
Trinity travels to New England Small College Athletic Conference foe Colby College on Saturday at noon.
