Homecoming Weekend At Trinity Kicks Off With Hall OF Fame Dinner Friday Night

HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College will kick off its annual Homecoming Weekend with Trinity College Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Ceremony in the Bond Ballroom in Hartford on Friday, September 23.  Saturday's events start off in the morning with the Power of Bantam Women Celebration event on campus at 10 a.m., and Trinity women's soccer and field hockey games against the NESCAC rival Wesleyan Cardinals starting at 11 a.m.  In the afternoon, Trinity football hosts Colby in its first home game of the season at 1:30 p.m. and Trinity men's soccer hosts Wesleyan at 2 p.m.

The Trinity College Athletics Hall of Fame was created to celebrate the rich history of athletic excellence at Trinity College that spans more than 160 years. The Hall of Fame honors the men and women who, through athletics participation, coaching, or service, have distinguished themselves in the field of intercollegiate athletics, brought honor and acclaim to Trinity, and contributed to the success and advancement of intercollegiate athletics at the college.  This year's inductees were announced in the spring.  In addition, Trinity's legendary field hockey coach, lacrosse coach, and associate athletic athletic director Robin Sheppard will be inducted from the Hall of Fame Class of 2021.  Sheppard was interviewed by Trinity Athletic Director Drew Galbraith on the Conversation in the Coop podcast leading up to the event.

"We continue to be awed by the effusive reaction of our community, as we properly honor some of the best Bantam athletes in our history," said Galbraith. "The process for determining each year's class has proven to be difficult but rewarding. The depth of talent and accolades are impressive and require extensive deliberation by our Hall of Fame Committee. We strongly believe that this year's class continues to set the bar high, and we are also excited that as our Hall of Fame grows we have the opportunity to honor more sports."
