HARTFORD, Conn. —
Cassie Lee (Newton, Mass.) rallied back for the Trinity College women's soccer team to knot the score at 1-1 at home against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday. The Bantams improved to 4-0-4, while the Bears moved to 4-3-1.
Coast Guard tallied the first goal of the game nine and a half minutes into the first half off the foot of Sidney Palinkas. Five minutes later, Lee took a corner kick from the far right corner and perfectly curved the ball to connect with the opposite corner of the net for the eventual game-tying goal. The junior captain now has a pair of goals on the season.
Trinity outshot the Bears 21-4, as the Bantams attempted 12 on goal and three Coast Guard shots at the target. The visitors goalkeeper Emily Scharnitzky recorded 11 saves, while
Mariana Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn.) stopped a trio of shots for the Navy & Gold.
Sadie Rudolph (Weston, Conn.) led the team in shots with six, while Lee,
Julianna Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) and rookie
Elena Lindonen (Boxford, Mass.) each tallied a pair.
The Bantams travel to New England Small College Athletic Conference opponent Bates College on October 1 for am 11 a.m. contest.
