Trinity Victorious Over Vassar In Men's Swimming And Diving

HARTFORD, Conn. - Seniors Liam Colleran (Norwalk, Conn.) and Tyler Trocchi (Tucker, Ga.) each won an individual race and the pair teamed with junior Ben Lundy (Nassau, Bahamas) and sophomore Colin Leonard (Concord, Mass.) for a first-place finish (1:37.45) in the 200-yard medley relay to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 155-131 win over the visiting Vassar College Brewers in men's swimming and diving action this afternoon at Trinity Natatorium.  Trinity wins its first of four dual matches this winter while the Brewers drop to 1-5.  Trinity swims against Clark and St. Joseph in Worcester on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Bantam relay win opened he meet and Leonard gave the Bantams their first winning finish in the individual events with a first-place time of 1:47.75 in the 200-yard freestyle.  Colleran won the 100-yard backstroke and Bantam sophomore Tudor Ionescu (Vienna, Austria) won the 200-yard back.  Sophomore Tadija Ciric (Nis, Serbia) won the 20-yard butterfly for the Bantams and rookie Matt Brown (Nahant, Mass.) touched first in the 500-yard free.  Trinity junior Dillon McDermott (East Sandwich, Mass.) won the 100-yard fly and Trocchi gave the Bantams their eighth swimming win with a first-place performance in the 200-yard IM.  In diving, junior Jackson Camporin (New Canaan, Conn.) was dominant for the home team with winning scores of 254.60 in the one-meter event and 265.7 in the three-meter event, respectively.
