WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomores
Addison Dunham (Concord, Mass.) and
Isabelle Tagliaferro (Bedford, N.H.) each won two individual races and two relays to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a sweep of the host Clark University Cougars and the University of St. Joseph Blue Jays in a women's swimming tri-meet this afternoon. Trinity is now 5-2 in dual meets with two sweeps in four days and will head to Wesleyan next to face the Cardinals on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Trinity won against Clark, 209-62, and against St. Joseph, 214-59. Clark defeated St. Joseph, 157-56, in the meet.
Dunham and Tagliaferro teamed with juniors
Sara Matson (Yardley, Pa.) and
Marley Orange (New York, N.Y.) to win the 200-yard medley relay in the first swimming competition and closed the day with a first-place performance in the 800-yard freestyle relay with senior
Rachel Papalski (Flemington, N.J.) and first-year
Niamh Kastner (Williamsburg, Va.). Dunham also won the 50- and the 100-yard freestyle races and Tagliaferro won the 100-yard butterfly and finished 1-2-3 with junior
Lauren Bessette (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore
Lauren Thomas (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) in the 500-yard free.
Trinity took first, second and third in four other races, beginning with a sweep of the 1,000-yard free by Kastner, Papalski and sophomore
Brooke Zurcher (Carmel, Ind.). The Bantams took all three top spots in the both backstroke races with five different swimmers, including sophomore Julie Rieker (Winston-Salem, N.C.) who was first in the 50-yard race and third in the 100-yard event and junior
Morgan Lenoce (Westport, Conn.) who won the 100-yard back. Trinity also swept the 100-yard IM with a 1-2-3 performance by junior
Marissa Lopez-Ona (Philadelphia, Pa.), senior
Avery Rowland (Wilton, Conn.), and sophomore
Eva Beiga (Naperville, Ill.). Rowland additionally won both the 200-yard free and the 100-yard breast and Lopez-Ona won the 50-yard breaststroke. Orange rounded out the winning performances with a winning time in the 50-yard butterfly.
