HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore forward
Nicholas Siffringer (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) scored the game-tying goal in the second period, as the Trinity College Bantams tied the visiting Hamilton College Continentals, 1-1, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this evening at Willams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity extends its unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1) and is now 11-5-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the NESCAC, while the Continentals move to 8-8-1 overall and 6-4-1 in the league. The Bantams host NESCAC rival Amherst tomorrow at 4 p.m. and Hamilton visits Wesleyan tomorrow at 4 p.m.
Trinity outshot Hamilton by a wide margin in every period, including, 18-6, in the first stanza but the Continentals held a 1-0 lead at the first break thanks to a goal by Nick Hawkins at the 11:16 mark. Siffringer converted the Trinity goal off an assist by junior defenseman
Theodore Griffin (Duxbury, Mass.), who blasted a shot that caromed back past him off Continental goalie Jack Grant's blocker, retrieved the puck from the Trinity defensive zone, and passed it back up to Siffringer for the goal with 3:30 remaining in the second period.
Both Grant and Bantam first-year netminder
Devon Bobak (Northwood, Ohio) were stellar in the third period and the overtime. Grant stopped six Bantam shots early in the third, including an off-balance glove save against Trinity sophomore forward
Richard Boysen (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in transition.Bobak returned the favor with four late stops in a row later in the final frame, and both goalies made five stops in the 4x4 overtime. Grant totaled 46 saves and Bobak had 23.
