Box Score MALDEN, Mass. – The Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team captured a 5-1 victory over host Tufts University in their New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opener Saturday evening at Malden Valley Forum.

The Bantams struck first on their opening power-play when senior John Campomenosi (Wayne, N.J.) retrieved a missed shot and handed it to senior Ned Blanchard (West Hartford, Conn.) at the top of the Tufts zone. He set up senior Kyle Tomaso (Newport, R.I.) for a one-timer deep in the left face-off circle and Trinity led 1-0 just three minutes in.

Trinity put 21 shots on goal in the first period, with Tufts senior goalie Peyton Durand making 19 saves to help keep the Jumbos in the game. However, another one-timer on a power-play from the right point by junior Teddy Griffin (Marshfield, Mass.) put the visitors up 2-0 with two minutes to go in the first.

The Jumbos pulled within 2-1 on a goal by junior Harrison Bazianos in the second period, but the Bantams recorded the important next goal from junior Richard Boysen (Bell Vernon, Pa.) late in the middle stanza to lead 3-1.

Trinity would get the next one after freshman Connor Sedlak (Wyckoff, N.J.) won a puck in the left corner of the Jumbo end. From behind the net he sent it over to junior Jax Murray (Minneapolis, Minn.), who sent it back to Sedlak. He got the puck out to Boysen, who roofed a shot from the right circle with 2:45 on the second-period clock for a 3-1 Bantam margin.

Trinity senior Christian Hayes (Milton, Mass.) scored twice in the third period to help the Bantams pull away. He deflected the first goal from right in front of the net at 6:14 of the third, then fired the second in off a face-off with 1:29 remaining.

Junior Eamon Doheny (Lunenburg, Mass.) assisted on two goals for the Bantams, who got 13 saves from sophomore goalie Devon Bobak (Northwood, Ohio). Durand finished with 41 saves in the Jumbo net and junor Brennan Horn won a game-high 10 face-offs.

Trinity will look to remain in the win column with a NESCAC road trip to Connecticut College Saturday afternoon. Puck drops at 3:00 p.m. Tufts will host Wesleyan University as its opening weekend continues at home tomorrow at 4:00.
