Women's Hockey Ties With #6 Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Trinity College Women's Hockey squad battled host Hamilton College to a 1-1 tie in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Russell Sage Rink Saturday afternoon. The Bantams sit at 3-3-1 on the year and 0-3-1 in conference, while the Continentals are 1-2-1 in the NESCAC and 3-2-1 overall.

After a scoreless first period, the Continentals cracked the scoreboard in with 13:17 remaining in the second as Abby Smith and Emily Ferguson connected and then found Sophia Testa near the goal for the finish to put Hamilton ahead 1-0.

With 6:48 remaining in the game, the Bantams delivered the equalizer as sophomore Emma Robertson dished a pass to first year Marta Mazzocchi, who tucked a shot past Hamilton goalie Teagan Brown to set the score at 1-1.

Trinity senior goalie Hannah Leclair came up huge for the Bantams in the overtime period, stopping all five shots that Hamilton put on goal to secure the 1-1 tie.

Hamilton dominated the shot column, 48-28, and held a slight edge in the faceoff circle, 28-25, during the game. Leclair made a game-high 33 saves for Trinity, while Brown stopped 13 shots for the Continentals.

The Bantams will be back on the ice for a non-conference clash with Western New England Friday at 7:30 p.m.
