Trinity Men's Lacrosse Nets First Win Of The Year Against Bates

HARTFORD, Conn. - Seniors Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) and Ryan Werner (Weston, Conn.) combined four nine goals and four assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 19-12 victory over the visiting Bates College Bobcats in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse action this afternoon on Jessee/Miller Field at Tunsill Muldoon Stadium.  Trinity improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC with the win in its home opener.  Bates drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Trinity led wire-to-wire, beginning with an un assisted tally by junior midfielder Andrew Bailey (Madison, N.J.) 2:39 into the first quarter.  Werner had two goals and two assists in the first quarter to help the Bantams lead, 7-2, at the first break.  Bailey scored two of Trinity's five goals in the second quarter and the home squad led, 11-6, at halftime. Bantam senior captain Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) scored four times in the second half, as the Bantams maintained a comfortable advantage over the final two quarters.

Ike finished with six goals and one assists and Werner had three goals and three assists.  Bailey also had a hat trick, while junior faceoff man Dane Crowley (Pelham, N.Y.) won 17 of 28 attempts and scooped 10 ground balls.  Junior  Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) made 12 saves for his first win of the spring for the Bantams.  Will Masterson paced Bates with four goals and two assists and Garrett FitzSimons made 10 Bobcat saves.
