MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Ryan Werner (Weston, Conn.) netted a trio of goals and an assist for the Trinity men's lacrosse team but Middlebury Colleges dominate first quarter was to much in the 9-15 loss on Saturday. The Bantams fell to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Panthers remain undefeated at 4-0 and 3-0. Trinity stays on the road with a midweek match at 6 p.m. on Tuesday against Emerson College.

Peter Cannon opened the scoring for either side 10 seconds into first quarter but five-straight goals quickly put the home team up, 5-1, before Werner notched his first goal of the contest with 56 seconds left on the clock. Middlebury recorded five more goals in the next stanza with Jack Almeida (New Canaan, Conn.) and Andrew Bailey (Madison, N.J.) putting two on the board for the Bantams with help from Jay Ottomanelli (Garden City, N.Y.) and Ethan Cobb (Matthews, N.C.), respectively.

Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) netted the fifth goal for the Navy & Gold off the assist by Werner and Werner netted two more goals across the third and fourth quarters, including the final Trinity goal with a little over five minutes in the final period. In the box Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) made 18 saves, while Hayden Kern stopped nine Bantam shots.
