Men's Lacrosse Downed by Tufts, 23-9

MEDFORD, Mass. — Jon Krikorian's (Windham, N.H.) first-career hat trick wasn't enough as the Trinity College men's lacrosse team fell 23-9 at Tufts University on Saturday. Trinity dropped to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Jumbos moved to 7-0 and 3-0. The Bantams remain on the road as they travel to instate nonconference foe United States Coast Guard Academy on on March 29 at 7 p.m.

Tufts opened fire in the first quarter with five-straight goals before Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) netted the first goal for the Bantams with 7:18 remaining in the period. The home team tallied a trio more before time expired in the quarter. Rookie Ethan Cobb (Matthews, N.C.) connected for Trinity's goal five minutes into the second off the pass by Krikorian, followed by a goal by the sophomore six minutes later with an assist by Ike. Tufts led 19-3 in the third before Matt Pecora (Congers, N.Y.) narrowed the deficit by one off the stick of Ryan Werner (Weston, Conn.).

The Navy & Gold put up a fight with a mini five-goal rally in the final quarter ignited by the goal from John Cowdrick (Lexington, Mass.) off a pass from Ike less than three minutes into the fourth. Trinity netted three-straight goals in six minutes and Krikorian recorded his third of the game with 21 seconds remaining in regulation. In the net, Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) held Tufts to only three goals in the fourth quarter, with four of the goalkeepers' 20 saves.
