Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) had two goals and one assist during a 4-0 Bantams run in the second half, as visiting Trinity College came away with a 9-8 win against the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears in men's lacrosse action this evening. Trinity improves to 4-4 with a road tilt up the Massachusetts Institute of Technology up next on Saturday at 2 p.m. Coast Guard drops to 3-6. Bantam senior tri-captain
Ryan Werner (Weston, Conn.) added a goal and two assists, while juniors
Andrew Bailey (Madison, N.J.) and
Tyler DeSimone (St. James, N.Y.) each scored twice, and junior goalkeeper
Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) made 11 saves. Ryan Hunter had three goals and one assist and Dan Lucas kept the home team in it with 17 saves.
The Bantams led, 5-4, at halftime, including two goals on scoring shots by DeSimone, but scored the only goal of the third period and the first three of the fourth to increase their advantage to 9-4. Ike scored the lone goal in the third with 9:30 on the clock and converted on a feed by Werner on the next goal of the game 1:23 into the final frame. Ike assisted sophomore
Ethan Cobb (Matthews, N.C.) on a goal just 24 seconds later and Werner connected with Bailey who gave the Bantams the five-goal lead at the 12:27 mark of the fourth. Coast Guard came roaring back thanks to a pair of goals and an assist by Ryan Hunter and the Bears' Patrick Smith made it a one-goal affair when he scored with 1:58 left to play. Trinity junior
Dane Crowley (Pelham, N.Y.) won his 14th faceoff the night thanks to a ground ball pickup by sophomore
John Cowdrick (Lexington, Mass.), his fifth of the game to go with two caused turnovers, and the Bantam defense held the Bears without a shot the rest of the way.
