CLINTON, N.Y. — Three-straight fourth quarter goals by first-year
Jack Almeida (New Canaan, Conn.), sophomore
Jon Krikorian (Windham, N.H.) and senior
Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.) etched the late comeback triumph for the Trinity College men's lacrosse team at Hamilton College on Saturday. Trinity improved to 7-6 on the season and 4-4 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while Hamilton dropped to 6-6 and 4-5. The team rounds out the regular season with back-to-back homes games, with the first against Colby College on April 22 at 6:30 p.m.
The Navy & Gold quickly fell behind in the first 12 minutes of the opening quarter with three-consecutive goals by the home team before
Andrew Bailey (Madison, N.J.) disrupted the scoring run with a goal at 1:46 off the pass from Krikorian. With 13 seconds to spare in the first, Krikorian caught the pass from
John Cowdrick (Lexington, Mass.) to net the Bantams second goal of the night and closed the gap, 4-2.
A trio of Hamilton goals intertwined with one from Krikorian and Ike in the second quarter brought the deficit to within three going into halftime. In the net for Trinity,
Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) kept the visitors alive with fours saves in the second. In the first 41 seconds of the third quarter, Ike ignited a four-goal rally to eventual give the Bantams their first lead of the game. A little over a minute late,
Ryan Werner (Weston, Conn.) brought the score to within one with an unassisted goal after
Dane Crowley (Pelham, N.Y.) won the face off and scooped up the ground ball. Ike perpetuated his rally with a game-tying goal with 12:49 remaining to even the score at seven apiece. For the first Trinity lead of the night,
Colin Sharp (Virginia Beach, Va.) received a well-placed pass from Werner to put the team up, 8-7, before Hamilton netted two before the time expired in the third quarter.
Almeida's game-tying goal in the opening minutes of the final quarter fired up the Bantams as Krikorian and Ike's back-to-back goals put the Navy & Gold up, 11-9. Thomas Healey retaliated with a goal to bring Hamilton's deficit to within one, but rookie
Ethan Cobbb's (Matthews, N.C.) insurance goal sealed the 12-11 victory for the Bantams. The home team committed 18 turnovers while Trinity had 19, with Cowdrick causing four of the visitors' nine caused turnovers. Yaccino stopped 13 total Continental shots, while Jack Fried totaled 17 saves for Hamilton.
