MEDFORD, Mass. — After an early one-run first inning deficit, the Trinity College softball team couldn't capitalize on its four hits in the 1-0 loss against Williams College in the New England Small College Athletic Conference Quarterfinals hosted at Tufts University on Saturday. The Bantams conclude the season with a 13-20 overall record and 8-10 in the league, while the Ephs continue at 20-15 and 12-5.
Kelly McGuigan singled up the middle in the first inning as Sidney Miller scored in the bottom of the first for Williams in the only run on the contest. On the bump for the Navy & Gold,
Tiffany Stowers (Burke, Va.) put in 5.2 innings of work with a pair of strikeouts and had 1-2-3 innings in the third and fourth. After McGuigan singled through the middle in the top of the sixth, Kayla Kang lined out into a double play as Stowers denied a second hit and threw the rock to
Kennedy Rogers (Phillips Ranch, Calif.) before McGuigan could return to first base.
The Bantams had four hits as
Taylor Mikolajczak (Johns Creek, Ga.) bunted to the pitcher in the fourth and doubled to right center two frames later, while Stowers doubled down the left field line and
Lizzie Nelson (Rockville, Md.) singled to pitcher in the top of the seventh. Trinity stranded five on the bags, while Williams left six on base.
