HARTFORD, Conn. — In the regular season finale, Kennedy Rogers (Phillips Rancho, Calif.) sealed the 3-2 victory for the Trinity College softball team in the first game of the doubleheader with a walkoff double to bring home Scarlett Gillette (Andover, Mass.) and had a two-run RBI in the third inning of game two for the eventual game-winning runs in the 7-3 victory against Middlebury College on Sunday. The Bantams concluded the regular season with a four-game win streak with a 13-19 and 8-10 record for the sixth spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Panthers fell to 18-16 and 7-11. No. 6 Trinity will play No. 3 Williams College on Saturday, May 13 at Tufts Univerisity with a noon first pitch.

Rogers ignited the opening game with a sacrifice fly to right field as Taylor Mikolajczak (Johns Creek, Ga.) crossed home to put Trinity up, 1-0, in the first inning. Mikolajczak led off the first with an infield triple along the warning track of centerfield to quickly get into scoring posltion before Rogers in the three hole. Middlebury evened the score in the third frame before Alyssa Gazivoda (Poughquag N.Y.) singled to right field to allow Abigail Alper (Weston, Fla.) to score in the fourth. Cece Zielger crossed home the second time for the Panthers to even the score again at two apiece in the fifth inning before Rogers walkoff double to centerfield put the Navy & Gold in the win column. On the mound for the Bantams Tiffany Stowers (Burke, Va.) pitched a 1-2-3 second inning for the juniors seventh win of the season in seven innings of work with two runs on six hits, a single walk and one strikeout.

Middlebury came out swinging in the second game with a pair of runs to open the first inning, before Trinity brought home six Bantams in the third frame. Mikolajczak's single up the middle kick started the rally as Gillette and Erin Steed (Orland, Ill.) rounded home to tie the game at 2-2. Rogers doubled to right field as Mikolajczak and Rebecca Cassel-Siskind (Philadelphia, Pa.) crossed the plate. Trinity padded the third with two more runs as Gianna Tito (East Hanover, N.J.) and Rogers scored before Gillette scored off a wild pitch in the fourth inning. A homer out of right center narrowed the deficit for the visitors to four in the fifth inning. Erin Girard (Bristol, Conn.) secured her second win of the season in five innings of with with a trio of runs on eight hits, two walks and a pair of strikeouts.
