HARTFORD, Conn. - Peter Maneggia, Jr., who served as an assistant volleyball coach at Trinity in 2015, 2016 and from 2018 to 2022, has announced his retirement from coaching. Maneggia enjoyed a fantastic career coaching volleyball and softball over the last 22 years, including two separate stints as a Bantam assistant in both women's volleyball and softball. The Trinity volleyball squad, coached by Jen Bowman (19th Season), finished the 2022 campaign with a 9-14 record and finished tied with Colby for seventh place in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) with a 4-6 mark against conference teams. The Bantams qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament for the 13th time, falling, 3-0, against Tufts in the quarterfinals.
"Coach Peter is an outstanding teacher and coach, and we will all miss him," said Trinity Head Coach Jen Bowman. "He brought a wonderful balance of wisdom and wit to the gym each day. Coach Peter has great insights into teaching, learning, and forging great relationships. Personally, it was truly a joy to work with him each day. He's a great friend and someone I've leaned on quite a bit. Coach Peter made our team better, and he made me a better coach. We all want to thank him for his contributions to our program and wish him well in his retirement."
Maneggia was an assistant softball coach at Trinity in 1999 and was the Bantams' interim head coach in 2021. He coached softball at Central Connecticut State (2000-04), St. Joseph (Conn.)
