Field Hockey Falls 4-1 to Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Katrina Winfield (Wilmington, Del.) put the Trinity College field hockey team on the board with an unassisted goal off a penalty corner in the 4-1 loss on the road at Wesleyan University on Saturday. Trinity dipped to 5-2 on the season and 1-2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Cardinals moved to 5-1 and 2-0. The Bantams return home to host league opponent Tufts University on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match up.

The hosts notched four goals in the first two quarters off five shots on goal, including a pair off penalty corners. Wesleyan took flight in the first quarter with three back-to-back goals on all three shot attempts, but the home team couldn't muster a shot after halftime. In the Bantams' net, McMichael (Glenside, Pa.) tallied one save, while Audrey Paced recorded five for Wesleyan.

With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Winfield inserted before knocking back the ball into the net off the quick pass by Izzy Deveney (Westport, Conn.) for her eighth goal of the season. The Navy & Gold had 10 penalty corner opportunities, while the Cardinals converted on two of their four corner plays.
