Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Goal Seals 1-0 Win for Women's Soccer over Bates

Gabby Grattan ends the scoreless tie in the 84th minute off the boot of Katelyn Charette.

HARTFORD, Conn. — The scoreboard remained deadlocked at zero apiece through 84 minutes of play before Gabby Grattan (Milton, Mass.) netted the eventual game-winner off the long backwards pass from Katelyn Charette (Hampton, N.H.) to clinch a New England Small College Athletic Conference win for the Trinity College women's soccer team over the visiting Bates College Bobcats on Saturday. The Bantams improved to 4-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the league, while Bates dipped to 1-5-2 and 0-4-1. Trinity returns to the pitch on October 3 for a home contest against conference opponent Colby College with a 6 p.m. matchup.

In the Bantams' net, Marianna Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn) denied a pair of Bobcats' shots in the first half, while Elsa Deutsch (Denver, Colo.) and Sadie Rudolph (Weston, Conn.) tag teamed a close shot by the visitors following a scrum in front of the net to block the ball and clear the backfield of Bobcats. Ruby Reimann faced eight shots by the hosts for Bates before Grattan's connected with the back of the net.

Rudolph lobbed the ball from the corner kick opportunity to Charette who attempted a header, but a Bobcat was there to block it before it was again recovered by the junior and sent to her captain at the top of the box on the left side. Trinity outshout the visitors 19-7 as the Navy & Gold had nine on goal and the Bobcats attempted a trio. Cournoyer totaled three saves through 90 minutes, while Reimann notched eight.
