HARTFORD, Conn. — Trinity College women's soccer head coach
Rachael Schroeder (5th season) enters the fall campaign with her first fully recruited team, including 12 seniors hoping to push into the postseason again. Schroeder is joined on the sidelines by
Fiona Walsh (1st season) as an assistant coach and
Dan Gaspar (4th season) as a goalkeeper coach. The Bantams kick off the season with a home opener against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the Trinity Soccer Field on September 5 at 6 p.m.Â
"Following a great season last year, the team is hungry for more postseason action by building on the team's consistency on the field," Schroeder said. "The goal is always for a bid to the NCAA Tournament, but the key is remaining humble throughout the season and taking it game-by-game, especially with competitive NESCAC teams and a tough schedule ahead."
Trinity leans on two-year captain
Cassie Lee (Newton, Mass.) and captains
Gabby Grattan (Milton, Mass.) and
Mariana Cournoyer (Saint Paul, Minn.) for guidance this autumn. Lee has been a consistent starter for the Bantams who notched a pair of goals and two assists last season, along with the teams leading scorer Grattan, who notched three goals, and starting goalkeeper Cournoyer in the net. Cournoyer started all 19 games in goal for the Bantams in 2022, posting a 0.88 goals against average and tallying 94 saves for an .847 save percentage (2nd in NESCAC) with eight shutouts (2nd in NESCAC).
New England Small College Athlete Conference Rookie of the Year
Elena Lindonen (Boxford, Mass.) returns to the pitch after sharing the goal scoring responsibilities with Grattan after netting a trio in her inaugural season for the Navy & Gold. All-NESCAC outside back
Lexi Hasbrouck (Hopkinton, Mass.) will continue to dominate as a defensive threat for the Bantams. Coming back from injury, forward
Tori Simas (Newburyport, Mass.) and defender
Sami Olsen (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) will compete for starting minutes on the pitch this season. Trinity welcomes six newcomers to the team who will contribute throughout the season.
