HARTFORD, Conn. — Despite a close first set, the Trinity College volleyball team fell 3-0 in home opener against Springfield College on Wednesday (23-25, 15-25, 15-25). Trinity moved to 1-1 on the season, while Springfield improved to 4-0. The Bantams travel to Eastern Connecticut State University on September 8.
Ava Boloyan (American Canyon, Calif.) opened the match with a kill, set up by
Caroline Howell (Houston, Texas), which ignited a 15-12 lead before back-to-back attack errors allowed the Pride to take a 19-18 lead. With the score knotted at 23-all, Springfield notched a block for the set point. The Navy & Gold opened the second set with two-straight points off attacking errors committed by the visitors.
Eva Lekovic (San Marino, Calif.) knotted the set at six apiece with a kill set up by Howell, but four-straight points allowed the Pride to regain the lead until the final point for the 2-0 lead. Springfield took a two-point lead early in the final set and maintained the lead in the 25-15 set win.
