NEW LONDON, Conn. – The #13 Trinity College Women's Hockey team shutout host Connecticut College, 1-0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at Dayton Arena Friday night. The Bantams improve to 9-3-2 and 2-3-2 in the NESCAC, while the Camels slide to 5-6-5 and 1-6-2.
With 7:43 to play in the first period, the Bantams cracked the scoreboard as senior Jenny Guider blocked a shot from the point and raced on a breakaway into the Camels zone. As she approached the goal, Guider deked to the right and lifted a backhand shot over the Camels sophomore goaltender Devon Galizio to give Trinity the 1-0 lead.
Trinity senior goaltender Hannah Leclair registered 14 saves across the second and third period en route to her sixth shutout of the season as the Bantams rolled to the 1-0 victory.
Trinity outshot the Camels, 19-18, and won the faceoff battle, 27-19. Leclair tallied 18 total saves, while Galizio also notched 18 saves for Conn College.
The Bantams and Camels return to the ice for game two of their two-game series Saturday afternoon at Dayton Arena at 3:00 p.m.
