Campbell's Double-Double Lifts Women's Basketball to Victory Over Beavers, 63-49

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Basketball team had success from the paint lifting them to a 63-49 victory over visiting Babson College in a non-conference contest at Oosting Gymnasium Tuesday afternoon. The Bantams sit at an 8-4 record on the season, while the Beavers drop to 5-7 overall.

The Bantams built up a 9-0 lead with points peppered across the Trinity starting line within the first five minutes of the game. Senior Reilly Campbell started off the scoring for the Bantams putting up 6 of their 11 points adding two foul shots to keep Trinity ahead. Babson's Madison Odam and Chloe Perreault both hit threes in the final two minutes to close the gap and end the quarter 11-10, Trinity led by one heading into the second.

The Beavers changed the lead as they knocked down a jumper and three to lift them ahead of the Bantams, 15-13. With four consecutive baskets in the paint Trinity found their way back to the lead with Babson trailing closely behind, 19-18. Junior Indi DelRocco drew a shooting foul where she went 1-2 from the line with 1:27 on the clock. In the next play DelRocco snagged a steal and knocked down a fast break jumper to close out the quarter 31-25, sending the Bantams into the half with the lead.

The Bantams opened up the half with a jump shot from senior Emma Wax followed seconds later by a three from graduate Bria Fuller off of a steal from sophomore Theresa Twardosky to build a eleven point lead over the Beavers, 36-25. Babson was able to knock the deficit down to five, sitting the score at 42-37 with two minutes remaining in the third. Campbell closed out the quarter knocking down two free throws to send the Bantams into the fourth with a 44-37 lead over the Beavers.

In the final quarter Trinity never let the Beavers see a score difference less than seven points as they closed out the game 63-49. Reilly Campbell went 6-6 from the line and finishing with a game-high 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for a double-double. DelRocco put up a season-high 10 points for the Bantams snagging three steals and dishing out two assists in the win.

The Beavers sixth woman, Chloe Perreault collected a double-double with a total of 16 points and 10 rebounds for a team-high in both stat lines. 

The Bantams controlled the rebounds column, 39-34, and points in the paint, 20-12. Trinity shot 22-of-57 (38.6%) from the floor, including 5-of-18 (27.8%) from three-point range, and 14-of-15 (93.3%) from the foul line. Babson connected on 19-of-57 (33.3%) from the field, 7-of-21 (33.3%) from three-point, and 4-of-4 (100%) from the foul line.

The Bantams will be on the road Friday, January 5th for a conference battle against the Colby College Mules, tip off is set for 7PM.
