HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team wrapped their 2024 campaign with a 3-0 loss to visiting Amherst College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at Trinity Soccer Field Tuesday night. The Bantams finish with a 2-13 record and a 0-10 mark in conference play, while the Mammoths improve to 7-2-1 in the NESCAC and 11-2-2 overall.

With 16 minutes remaining in the first half, the Mammoths broke a scoreless tie as senior Fynn Hayton-Ruffner chipped the ball into the box, where classmate Aidan Curtis headed the ball to sophomore Mohammed Nuhu for a one-timer past the diving attempt of Trinity junior goalkeeper
Felix Schmidt, giving Amherst the 1-0 lead. In the 36
th minute of play, the Mammoths added to their advantage as first-year Michael Cherico headed home a cross from Hayton-Ruffner to extend the lead to 2-0 heading into halftime.

Just over two minutes into the second half, the Mammoths delivered their final strike as first-year Obed Opoku drove the ball towards the Trinity goal line and played it to the front of the net, where junior Ioannis Hadjiyiannis redirected the cross into the back of the net with a heel flick sending Amherst to the 3-0 victory.

The Mammoths outshot the Bantams, 17-6, during the contest, while Trinity held the edge in corner kicks, 6-5. Schmidt made three saves, while first-year Trey Sheppard notched a save for Amherst.
