Trinity Women's Squash Ladder Sweeps Middlebury, 9-0

HARTFORD, Conn. – The second-ranked Trinity College Women's Squash team continued their strong performance in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), defeating visiting Middlebury College, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon.

The Bantams' ladder was dominant as all nine players registered 3-0 victories. In the top six spots, Trinity's returners delivered commanding wins. At No. 1, senior Jana Safy triumphed 11-4, 11-5, 11-2. Junior Chukwu (No. 2) followed with an 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 win, while Noa Romero (No. 3) cruised to a 3-0 victory with scores of 11-2, 11-2, 11-2. At No. 4, Janna Ashmawy won 11-4, 11-1, 11-5, and Lulu Palacios (No. 5) secured a 3-0 victory with scores of 11-4, 11-2, 12-10. Fabiola Cabello (No. 6) completed the top half of the lineup with an 11-8, 11-3, 11-6 win.

In the bottom three spots, Trinity's first-years shone with impressive performances. At No. 7, Varvara Kliueva won 11-5, 11-5, 11-3, while Katherine Fox (No. 8) triumphed 11-2, 11-4, 11-1. Elisenda Ruiz-Kaiser (No. 9) completed the sweep with a solid 11-5, 11-7, 11-7 win. Kliueva and Fox earned their second collegiate wins, while Ruiz-Kaiser registered her first collegiate victory in her debut match.

The Bantams will return to action on Saturday, December 7, at 1 p.m. when they host Colby College as they continue their NESCAC campaign.
