Box Score HARTFORD, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams completed a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) sweep of the visiting Hamilton College Continentals with a 3-0 victory in game two of their series. Trinity improves to 4-0 in the NESCAC and 5-0 overall, while Hamilton drops to 0-3 in conference play and 0-3 overall.
Sophomore Lily Brook opened the scoring for the Bantams just 4:22 into the game, capitalizing on her own rebound to bury the puck in the net. Less than five minutes later, Trinity extended its lead to 2-0 when junior forward Lillian Collins redirected a shot from Claire Kennedy in the top right corner of the Bantams' attacking zone.
Hamilton outshot Trinity 14-10 in the opening period, but the Bantams fired 8 shots on goal compared to Hamilton's 7.Hamilton was awarded a power play at 14:30, but the Bantams' defense held firm, keeping the score 2-0 heading into the second period.
The second period was a scoreless one, with Hamilton's goaltender, Teagan Brown, recording 13 saves. Trinity's Madeline Carter was only tested once, but the Bantams couldn't capitalize on an early power play, despite getting off five shots, one of which was stopped by Brown and the others blocked by Hamilton defenders.
Trinity's defense came up big in the third period when the Bantams were penalized early, giving Hamilton a two-minute power play. The Bantams successfully killed the penalty, allowing only one shot on goal during the power play, which was saved by Carter.
At 17:11, the Bantams sealed the victory when Kate French scored the third and final goal of the game. After a flurry of shots and a crowded net, French was in the right place at the right time to tip the puck past Brown, securing a 3-0 win.
The Trinity College women's ice hockey team will next travel to Wesley Chapel, Fla., for the Sunshine Turkey Classic, hosted at the AdventHealth Center Ice. The Bantams will face #5 Adrian College on Friday, November 29th, at 7:00 PM.
