HARTFORD, Conn. – The third-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball team defeated cross-town rival University of Saint Joseph, 86-60, in a non-conference tilt at Oosting Gymnasium Monday night. The Bantams improve to 9-0 on the season, while the Blue Jays drop to 5-3 overall.

Trinity had three-players with 15+ points, powered by a game-high 18 points and a career-high five rebounds from sophomore
Jared Berry. Junior
Henry Vetter added 17 points, two rebounds and two assists, while senior
Will Dorion netted a season-high 16 points. Junior
Jarrel Okorougo pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds with eight points and three blocks. Junior
Trevor McDonald and sophomore
Tristan Davis grabbed seven rebounds apiece, while first-year
David Ayles dished out a career-high five assists in the win.

Junior Lence Altenor led the Blue Jays offense with a team-high 15 points, while classmate Friedrich Feldrappe tallied 11 points with a team-high six rebounds and three assists. Senior Kevin Cummins logged 10 points, and senior Tahmeen Dupree had four assists.

The Blue Jays held serve early in the first half building a 14-8 advantage behind nine points from Feldrappe. Junior
Drew Lazarre and McDonald delivered put-back buckets, followed by a three-point play from junior
Paul Jordan to trim the gap to 16-15. Berry rattled off seven straight points to give Trinity a lead they wouldn't relinquish, 22-16, at the 7:17 mark. The Bantams created separation with an 11-2 run over the next three minutes, paced by seven points from Dorion, to hold a 33-18 advantage. Trinity outscored Saint Joseph, 9-8, down the stretch to take a 42-26 lead into halftime.

A jumper from USJ junior Tyshawn Jackson with 16:46 remaining in the game helped the Blue Jays close the gap to 44-32, but Trinity regained control with a 14-7 run, featuring six points from Berry, to possess a 58-39 advantage. The Bantams continued to pull away behind a pair of buckets from senior
Sean Macarchuk, along with dunks from Berry, Okorougo and Davis, to develop a 77-51 lead with 4:48 to play. Trinity added a pair of late three-pointers from Vetter and a bucket from first-year Samuel Morris to lock up the 86-60 victory.

The Bantams dominated the rebounding column (48-22), points in the paint (50-30), second-chance points (22-7) and bench points (36-18). Trinity connected on 35-of-76 (46.1%) from the field, 8-of-29 (27.6%) from three-point and 8-of-10 (80%) from the foul line. The Blue Jays shot 21-of-55 (38.2%) from the floor, including 4-of-18 (22.2%) from beyond the arc and 14-of-16 from the free throw line.

The Bantams will be back in action when they host the 2024 Trinity Holiday Tournament, where the Bantams will welcome #16 WPI, SUNY-Geneseo and Suffolk to Oosting Gymnasium on December 30 & 31.
