HARTFORD, Conn. - Saturday afternoon the Trinity College Women's Basketball were bested on the hardwood by Bates College 74-68 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinals matchup.
The Bantams and the Bobcats wrapped up the first two quarters with the score deadlocked at 28-28. Emma Wax netted six of her points in the first quarter leading for the Bantams, followed by Indi DelRocco who put up 4 points in the first and second quarters, adding 1 assist.Â
Bates would control most of the play as they held a lead early in the third, Trinity's DelRocco found her way to the charity stripe for back-to-back chances from the line where she collected four points for the Bantams lifting them to a 3-point lead with 4:07 remaining in the third. Bobcats Alexandra Long would pull up from beyond the arc to knot the score, 38-38, which ended up being the last time the Bantams had held the lead in the semifinal battle.Â
DelRocco led the Bantams with a career-high of 22 points, adding 4 assists and cashing in 9-for-9 from the foul line. Wax added 16 for the Bantams going 2-for-3 from beyond the arch, while Reilly Campbell netted 16-points with 7 rebounds.
Bantams went 24-for-64 (37.5%) from the field and knocked down 17-of-22 (77.3%) from the charity stripe. Bates shot 26-for-53 (49.1%) from the field and hit 15-of-19 (78.9%) from the foul line, both teams added double-digits from the paint with 26 from Trinity and Bates with 24.
