#1 WSQ Top #3 UPenn, 8-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – #1 Women's Squash were victorious on the hardwood as they defeated #3 University of Pennsylvania 8-1 in the George A. Kellner Squash Courts. The Bantams are 9-0 in the season, while Princeton lowers to a 7-2 overall.

Hannah Chukwu wrapped up her match in twenty-two minutes, collecting a 3-0 sweep over UPenn's Grace Lavin (11-5, 12-10, 11-5). Sophomore Fabiola Cebello added another 3-0 sweep on the day for the Bantams, winning with set scores of 11-5, 12-10, 11-5. Senior captain Nouran Youssef was bested in the first set falling 11-8 to UPenn's Avni Anand. Youssef responded by winning the next three, denying Anand a point over seven (11-7, 11-5, 11-7). 

Junior Janna El Ashmawy denied UPenn's Abbie Rorke any opportunity of collecting more than three points in each set, securing a 3-0 match point. Kara Lincou competed for four sets against Emma Wolf, falling in the second set to a score of 11-3. Lincou stepped back onto the hardwood and finished the match with a final score of 3-1 (11-4, 3-11, 11-9, 11-8). Junior Jana Safy took down UPenn's Franka Vidovic on court 2 with a 3-0 sweep. Trinity holds a 6-0 lead in the match.

After a 1-2-3 match, senior Madeleine Hylland would overpower UPenn's Natasha Pensler with scores of 11-4, 3-11, 11-9, 11-8, adding the 7th match point of the day. Lulu Palacios Benitez was victorious after a 3-1 win. In her fourth set UPenn's Emma Carter sent the game past 11's, but Pelacios Benitez did not waiver as she solidified the 8th win for the Bantams. In the final rally Malak Moustafa was bested on the hardwood, despite her grit and perseverance the junior would fall 3-1 collecting the Bantams only loss of the day.

Trinity Women's Squash will compete on Wednesday, Feb 7th at 6PM against #7 Yale University in the George A. Kellner Squash Courts.
