HARTFORD, CONN. - Trinity College Women's Lacrosse hosted Springfield College for their Grow the Game Youth Night on Robin L. Sheppard Field where they collected a 10-9 victory in the non-conference play. Bantams lift 4-1 in their young season, while the Pride lower 4-2. Trinity College has a conference road match on Friday, March 22nd for the 6PM NESCAC clash against Williams College.
The Bantams out shot Springfield 26-to18 in the non-conference match, the Bantams played a cleaner game tallying only 16 turnovers while the Pride managed 21. Trinity was successful with 9-9 clears and won 13-of-22 draw controls with
Caitlyn Buermann collecting four of them.Â
The Springfield duo of Sarah Newton and Lily Johnson netted the first three goals early in the quarter, lifting the pride to a 3-0 lead with 9:09 remaining in the first. Trinity's
Natalie Miller and
Casey Ward would find the back of the Prides a little over midway through the first to make it a one point game heading into the second, 3-2.
To open up the second and knot the score 3-3, a player up goal by
Molly McGuckin would change the pace of the game for the Bantams. Trinity would grasp their first lead of the game 5-4 after goals from Ward and McGuckin. The Pride would keep the game close as they bind the score with just 2 minutes remaining, 5-5 heading into the half.
In the third both teams traded points, with the Pride up 7-9 the Bantams would net three consecutive goals from
Kelsey Restivo, McGuckin and Ward to grow the largest lead of the game for the Bantams, 9-7.
In the fourth quarter neither team could break the goals surface, it wasn't until
Tatum Constant took to the prides goal herself and sent in the Bantams 10th goal, making it a three point lead with 9:49 remaining. The Pride would try and come back but fell short, Bantams collect the non-conference win 10-9.
