Devon Bobak Sid Watson Award

Devon Bobak Named National Player of the Year

| By:

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College sophomore goaltender Devon Bobak (Northwood, Ohio) was named the recipient of the 2023-24 Sid Watson Award, given to the top player at the men's NCAA Division III level by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA). Bobak also took home the 23rd annual Joe Concannon Award, bestowed upon the top American-born player at the NCAA Division II/III level.

Bobak becomes the first player in Trinity program history to be recognized with the Sid Watson Award. During his sophomore campaign, Bobak holds a 24-3-1 record with a career-best 1.25 goals against average, a career-best .943 save percentage and a career-high 550 saves. Bobak has logged a program-high seven shutouts on the season, including back-to-back shutouts against Tufts in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship and Elmira College in the NCAA Championship Quarterfinals. Nationally, Bobak ranks third in goals against average and eighth in save percentage. Bobak led the NESCAC in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts on the year. Bobak is the eighth player in NESCAC history to claim the Sid Watson award.

"I am so pumped for Devon," noted Trinity head coach Matthew Greason. "He is an unreal kid and just super humble, but he really deserves this great honor. He has been outstanding for us all season and raises the energy of the whole team. He calms everything down for us with a level of levity that just keeps everybody calm and focused. He always has a smile on his face and is a very hard worker on the ice and in the classroom. He also carries a couple of part-time jobs to maintain his Trinity experience. While he doesn't like the spotlight or individual recognition, I hope he will embrace winning this important award for D-II/III hockey."

Bobak and the Bantams will face Adrian College in the NCAA semifinal round on March 21 at 7:00 p.m at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. In the other semifinal game, defending champion Hobart takes on Utica at 3:00 p.m.
