HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College Baseball were bested on Murren Family Field this afternoon, 5-1, to the visiting Westfield State Owls. Bantams fall 5-8 midway through the season, while the Owls lift 11-3 on their season. Trinity College enters conference play this weekend beginning with a single game Friday, March 29th as they host Bates College, followed by a double header against the Bobcats on Saturday, March 30th.
Westfield State built up a lead of 5-0 over the course of four innings, logging two runs off of a homerun in the first inning. The Owls would chalk up two more runs in the third with back to back sacrifice plays from A. Martin and S. Clark. The final run for Westfield was logged after a single base knock to center field from S. Palmer.
In the 6th inning Bantams' Aidan Stern went on to log a sacrifice fly out to center field sending in Zach McBride for the only Trinity run of the game.Â
Bantams shuffled through nine pitchers, with a new person on the mound to start each inning. Walter Schwartz opened the game for Trinity followed by Tyler Colditz, Jonathan Link, Drew McGowan, Jake Leonard, Thomas Fahey, John Leahy, Andrew Castaneda, and Brendan Grady.
