Women's Lacrosse Down Bates in Alumnae Appreciation Game, 18-8

HARTFORD, CONN. - Trinity College Women's Lacrosse were visited by the Bates College Bobcats for a regular season New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) bout on Robin L. Sheppard Field, that ended with a final score of 18-8 in favor of the home Bantams. The Bantams' now enter the bulk of NESCAC play with a 5-3 overall record and 2-2 within conference, they will face fellow NESCAC member Connecticut College this Wednesday, 4/3 at 6 pm, in Hartford for their Inclusion Game. The Bobcats, will travel back to Maine with a 4-5 record and an upcoming NESCAC bout with the Bowdoin College Polar Bears.

Trinity was slow to start, but entered a rhythm early in the second period netting five straight goals. The run included two straight from Sophomore stud Molly McGuckin, both assisted by fellow sophomore Grace Denious. McGuckin totaled five goals on the day, bringing her season total to 27, leading the team and tied for second in the NESCAC while having played one less game than the league's top scorer. Scoring was plentiful on the day as two other Bants registered hat tricks, senior Natalie Miller and junior Brooke Kurtz both scored three goals a-piece.

The Bantams entered the half leading 12-5 and never let up including a second five goal hot streak in the third quarter. The Bantams dominated the box score taking more than twice as many shots as the Bobcats 37-to-18 and showing great discipline taking good care of the ball to win the turnover battle 21-13. Trinity also bested the Bobcats winning in both the draw control category 18-to-12 and converting on more than half of their free position shots going 7-13 on the day.
