#18 Women's Lacrosse Came Up Short Against Hamilton, 9-8 in NESCAC Play

HARTFORD, Conn. - #18 Trinity College Women's Lacrosse were bested on Saturday afternoon by the Hamilton College Continentals in NESCAC play on Steuben Field.  Bantams own a 5-5 and 2-4 NESCAC record on the season, while the Continentals are 4-4 and 3-3 NESCAC on their season.

How It Happened

  • Bantams began NESCAC play with four-consecutive goals, Molly McGuckin netting two lifting Trinity 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.

  • Only one Hamilton goal sneaked through in the second quarter, being the only goal from both sides. Bantams led 4-2 at the conclusion of the first half.

  • McGuckin scored first in the new half at the 13:46 mark as a player-up goal. The sophomore would record Trinity's last shot of the game to close the third quarter for her 33rd goal this season.

  • Bantams netted four goals in the third while Hamilton kept the game within three as they were able to send three goals in the back of Trinity's net. 8-5 heading into the fourth.

  • The Continentals shifted the games momentum as they made a fourth quarter comeback after netting four goals, including a player-down goal, to surpass the Bantams, 9-8, for the final.

Notes

  • Sophomore attack Molly McGuckin led all players with four goals, registering 2 ground balls and 1 caused turnover. 

  • Brooke Kurtz added two goals and an assist, with the addition of 1 ground ball and one caused turnover. 

  • Natalie Miller picked up three ground balls, while also netting two-of-the-eight Bantams goals.

  • Caitlyn Buermann caused three turnovers and Grace Denious won three draws. 

  • Sophomore Ali MacDougall denied nine shots, including five in the second quarter.

  • Hamilton held a 27-18 shot advantage over the Bantams, winning 15 draws to the Bantams' 5.

  • The Continentals scored twice while they were down a player.

  • The Bantams scored twice on player up goals.

  • Hamilton's last five wins against Trinity have all been by a goal.
