Women's Lacrosse Blanks Farmingdale State, 20-0, In NCAA Tournament Opener

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Trinty College Women's Lacrosse team used a 13-goal first period onslaught to propel past Farmingdale State, 20-0, in the First Round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse National Championship Tournament at Clark Field Saturday afternoon.

The Bantams improve to 9-8 on the season and will face host #6 Gettysburg College in a Second Round matchup Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Bantams wasted little time finding the back of the net as senior Natalie Miller delivered an unassisted strike on Trinity's opening possession to grab a 1-0 lead. Less than 30 seconds later, sophomore Molly McGuckin registered the first of trio of goals over the next two minutes to extend the Bantams lead to 4-0 with 12:42 remaining in the first quarter.

Miller and senior Caroline Lampert each netted back-to-back goals as Trinity pushed their advantage to 9-0 with 6:33 on the clock. Sophomore Grace Denious, first-year Sarah Marvin, and first-year Kelsey Restivo added strikes in the final minutes of the quarter to build a 13-0 lead.

Junior Brooke Kurtz dished out a pair of assists to McGuckin and Restivo as the Bantams escorted their lead to 13-0 midway through the second quarter. After opening the first quarter with a goal, Miller sent the Bantams into halftime with a 16-0 lead with her fourth tally of the game.

Marvin netted a goal in the third and fourth quarter, while Restivo and Kaeley Zito recorded fourth quarter tallies to wrap up the 20-0 victory.

McGuckin paced the Bantams attack with a game-high five goals, while Kurtz racked up a game-high eight assists. Miller registered six points with four goals and two assists, while Lampert notched five points with three goals and two assists. Marvin and Restivo potted three goals each, while Denious had three points with a goal and two assists.

Sophomore Ali Macdougall earned the victory in net for the Bantams, while Olivia Aguirre recorded five saves in relief. Farmingdale State sophomore Giavanna Stamatelo made a game-high 20 saves in the loss.
