Bantams Fall Short in Hard-Fought Match Against No. 23 Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass. — The Trinity College Women's Soccer team faced a narrow 2-1 defeat against Brandeis University, which is currently ranked 23rd in the latest National Rankings for DIII Women's Soccer. With this loss, the Bantams' record fell to 1-6-0 overall, while the Judges improved to 8-1-0 for the season.

Trinity's senior defender, Kaitlyn Charrette, opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a powerful shot after receiving a pass from Emma Almoney. Despite this early goal, Brandeis dominated in scoring opportunities, outshooting Trinity 7 to 2 in the first half. However, the Judges were unable to capitalize on their chances, failing to find the back of the net against the Bantams' resilient defense.

The second half proved more fruitful for the Brandeis offense. They equalized in the 78th minute with a penalty kick converted by Rachel Walter. Just three minutes later, Walter struck again to give the Judges a 2-1 lead. A final attempt by Trinity's Nina Sharp fell off target in the closing minutes, sealing the Bantams' defeat.

Brandeis outshot Trinity 17-5, with 8 shots on goal compared to Trinity's 3. Bantams' first-year goalkeeper, Lily Bracken, made 6 saves, while the Brandeis goalkeepers split time in net—Rachel Ross denied one shot, and Hannah Bassan finished the second half with a quiet performance.

The Bantams will be back in action on Sunday September, 29th at the home of the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats for a 3PM game.
