HARTFORD, Conn. – The 3rd-ranked Trinity College Women's Squash team posted a clean sweep down the ladder, 9-0, over visiting #12 Dartmouth College on Sunday afternoon at the George A. Kellner Squash Courts. With the win, the Bantams improve to 7-1 on the season, while the Big Green drop to 2-7 overall.
First-year Varvara Kliueva, playing in the #7 spot, delivered a gritty comeback in a reverse sweep over Dartmouth's Maya Shroff (5-11, 6-11, 11-4, 15-13, 11-5), securing the final point to complete the Bantams' 9-0 triumph.
Trinity's top three players also turned in impressive performances. At #1, Malak Moustafa defeated Maria Clara Ramirez Velasquez 3-1 (11-3, 8-11, 11-2, 11-8). Senior Noa Romero triumphed 3-0 (11-2, 11-5, 11-8) over Eleanor Clifford in the #2 match, while junior Kara Lincou cruised to a 3-0 win (11-7, 11-8, 11-2) against Chelsea Cho at #3.
In the #4 spot, senior Lulu Palacios Benitez earned a 3-1 victory (11-4, 7-11, 11-6, 12-10) over Maya Mansoor, while senior Janna Ashmawy dispatched Zayna Usman 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-3) at #5.
Junior Fabiola Cabello posted a 3-0 win (11-7, 11-5, 15-13) against Aubrey Lennon at #6, and sophomore Varvara Esina breezed past Kriti Muthu 3-0 (11-8, 11-4, 11-4) at #8. First-year Elisenda Ruiz-Kaiser capped off the sweep with a 3-0 victory (11-4, 11-2, 11-5) over Devon Glaser at #9.
Next up, Trinity will have individuals competing at the College Squash Association Individual Championships, set to take place from Friday, January 24th to Monday, January 27th.
