HARTFORD, Conn. – The 16
th-ranked Trinity College Men's Basketball squad fended off visiting Connecticut College, 60-53, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Oosting Gymnasium Friday night. The Bantams rise to 17-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Camels slide to 3-3 in the NESCAC and 11-9 on the season.

Trinity junior
Jarrel Okorougo netted a team-high 16 points, shooting 7-of-14 from the field, with three assists and a block. Junior
Henry Vetter filled the stat sheet with 14 points a game-high seven rebounds, and a game-high six assists. Junior
Trevor McDonald added eight points, four rebounds and three assists, while classmate
Drew Lazarre had six points and five rebounds.

The Camels had three scorers in double figures, led by a game-high 20 points, four assists and two rebounds from Cam Schainfeld. Garrett Clar tallied 14 points, connecting on four three-pointers, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Elias Espinosa notched 13 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Down 6-2 early, the Bantams battled back with four straight points from Okorougo to even the score at 6-6 with 16:30 on the clock. The Camels bumped the lead back up to 11-6, but a pair of buckets from junior
Paul Jordan put the Bantams ahead 16-14 with 10:19 remaining in the half. A triple from senior
Sean Macarchuk buried a triple to extend the Trinity lead to 21-15, but a 7-2 run from the Camels closed the gap to 23-22 at the 2:15 mark. The Bantams wrapped the half with their own 7-2 run to take a 30-24 lead into halftime.

Quick buckets from Clar and Schainfeld trimmed the gap to 30-29, but a three-pointer from sophomore
Jared Berry capped a 10-5 run to rebuild a 40-34 advantage with 12:42 to play. Clar and Schainfeld struck again with a trio of three-pointers to put the Camels ahead 46-44 with 6:15 on the clock. Vetter and Espinosa traded triples, and then Okorougo knocked down two buckets to set the score at 54-51. With less than a minute to play, Vetter buried a clutch three-pointer along with a trio of free throws to seal the 60-53 win.

The Bantams won the rebounding battle, 32-24, while dominating the paint, 26-10, and bench play, 16-1. Trinity connected on 24-of-53 (45.3%) from the floor, including 7-of-21 (33.3%) from three-point, and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the foul line. Conn shot 17-of-51 (33.3%) from the field, 11-of-31 (35.5%) from three-point, and 8-of-10 (80%) from the free throw stripe.

The Bantams will be back in action when they host ninth-ranked Tufts University (17-3, 5-1 NESCAC) Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's game will be Senior Day for Trinity Men's Basketball with a pre-game celebration honoring the Senior class.
