NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Trinity College Women's Basketball team defeated host Connecticut College, 75-50, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Luce Field House Friday night. The Bantams improve to 16-4 overall and 5-1 in the NESCAC, while the Camels dip to 0-6 in conference and 10-10 on the season.

Melissa Whitmore scored a game-high 18 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field and 4-of-4 from three-point, with five rebounds and three assists. Sophomore
Avery Marzo tallied 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks, while junior
Samantha Slofkiss and sophomore
Madi Forman each added nine points in the win.

Hayle Thompson led the Camels with a game-high 18 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Valeria Santiago Dedos added eight points and three steals, while Avery Burns chipped in seven points.

The first quarter of action was tight as seven points from Whitmore helped the Bantams to a 7-5 lead. Burns netted five points from put the Camels ahead 12-10, but a jumper from Slofkiss and trey from Whitmore gave Trinity the 15-14 lead heading into the second.

The Bantams created separation in the second quarter, outscoring Conn College, 24-13, in the frame, beginning with 10-1 run, capped by back-to-back three-pointers from Whitmore, to harness a 25-15 lead. Five points from
Avery Marzo extended the lead to 32-19, followed by buckets from Slofkiss and juniors
Lucy Dorion and
Theresa Twardosky to hold a 39-27 lead at the break.

Trinity pulled away in the third quarter, kicking off the period with a 9-0 run to build a 48-27 lead midway through the quarter. A three-point play from Slofkiss set the score at 53-32, but the Camels outscored Trinity, 8-3, to trim the deficit to 56-40.

The Bantams edged the Camels on the glass, 39-37, in the paint, 34-28, and off the bench, 29-18. Trinity shot 30-of-54 (55.6%) from the field, including 7-of-15 (46.7%) from three-point and 8-of-12 (66.7%) from the foul line. Conn College connected on 19-of-63 (30.2%) from the floor, 3-of-20 (15%) from three-point, and 9-of-16 (56.3%) from the charity stripe.

The Bantams will look to push their win streak to seven with a NESCAC road trip to Tufts University Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled from 3:00 p.m.
