BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Trinity College field hockey team narrowly fell to the No. 13-ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears, 1–0, on Saturday morning in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. With the result, Bowdoin improves to 9–2 overall and 5–2 in league play, while the Bantams drop to 3–8 on the year and 1–6 in the conference.
What Happened:

Bowdoin struck early, finding the back of the cage just two minutes into the contest. Hannah Balmelli received a pass from Emily Ferguson and converted to give the Polar Bears a 1–0 advantage.

Trinity nearly responded moments later when sophomore Clair Griffith sent a strong attempt just wide of the cage.

The Polar Bears pushed to extend their lead in the second quarter, firing five shots. Bantam goalkeeper Hayley Gable turned away three of them, while another was blocked by a Trinity defender to keep the game within one.

Bowdoin managed just one shot in the third frame, which was once again denied by the Bantam defense.

Trinity earned a pair of penalty corners in the final quarter, both leading to quality chances. Alison Gerber's first attempt was blocked by a field player, followed by a shot from Maeve Hymovitz that sailed just wide. In the closing minutes, Brooke DiBiase had a final look off the Bantams' second corner of the frame, but her shot also went wide, sealing the narrow 1–0 defeat.

Four green cards were issued during the contest — to Trinity's Ava DiPasquale (16:05) and Reagan Waldner (54:01), and Bowdoin's Emily Ferguson (40:01) and Fei Yang-Sady (57:37).
