HARTFORD, Conn. — The Trinity College men's soccer team displayed resilience and attacking flair despite a tough 3–2 loss to Western New England University on Tuesday evening at Trinity Soccer Field. The Bantams fall to 3–7–3 on the season, while the Golden Bears improve to 8–7–1.
What Happened
- Western New England struck early, taking a 1–0 lead just over four minutes into the match. The Bantams quickly regained their composure, pushing the tempo and testing the Golden Bears' defense. Trinity found its equalizer in the 34th minute when junior Shane Ivy capitalized on a well-timed pass from Trevor Saruwaka and Jack Murphy to score and make it 1–1.
- After halftime, Western New England seized control, scoring twice in quick succession in the middle of the second half to go up 3–1. However, Trinity responded with determination. In the 80th minute, first-year Dillon Reilly scored his first career goal, assisted by sophomore Sam Singer, pulling the Bantams within one at 3–2.
- Trinity continued to press for an equalizer in the final minutes, generating several promising chances, but the Golden Bears' defense held strong to secure the 3–2 win.
- Goalkeepers Nate Dyott and Felix Schmidt both contributed to keeping the Bantams within reach throughout the match with key saves.
